What is MiDAS?
MiDAS is the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme, organised by the Community Transport Association U.K (CTA) which promotes a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers. It is a membership based scheme that has been designed to enhance minibus driving standards and promote the safer operation of minibuses.

The training comes in two forms – Standard and Accessible. Standard refers to a fully seated minibus and accessible would be for minibuses designed to carry wheelchairs and the use of specialist equipment to board and alight such as lifts and ramps and equipment to secure the user and wheelchair.

What does the course involve?
A classroom based theory session of approximately 3 hours
A multiple choice theory assessment
On road training and assessment of driving ability approximately 1 hour
Drivers of accessible minibuses do additional theory and practical assessment of their ability to use the accessible features safely

A MiDAS certificate will be issued once all the relevant sessions have been attended and assessments passed. Facilities do exist for assessments to be retaken if necessary. Every attempt is made to achieve this during the course but if we have to revisit an additional cost will be incurred. 

Do you need MiDAS Training?
MiDAS is aimed at any organisation using minibuses. Member organisations range from charities operating one vehicle up to local authorities operating large fleets of minibuses as well as schools, colleges and universities.
